Rural human services certificate program: Practicum course

Students in the University of Alaska Fairbanks Kuskokwim Campus Rural Human Services (RHS) program have the option to partner with PC CARES for their certificate practicum project. After two years of residential weeklong intensive training sessions for their certificate coursework, students complete a practicum as a culmination of the experience. If they choose, the students will host 5 learning circles in their communities as their 100-hour practicum project.

Community Health Aide Program Certification Board: Continuing education hours

Community Health Aides who attend Learning Circles can earn up to 14 continuing education hours.

The course meets the requirements provided by the Community Health Aide Program Certification Board Standards and Procedures, as amended, Chapter 3. Continuing Education, Section 3.10.300(c).

National Association of Social Workers (nasw)

For Learning Circle-goers who are also social workers, counselors, behavioral health aides, etc., the PC CARES program has been approved by the National Association of Social Workers Alaska Chapter (OA-10192021-013AK) for 6 contact hours in cross-cultural education relating to Alaska Natives, 3 contact hours in general cross-cultural education, and 5 contact hours on suicide prevention (14 total).

In order to receive credit, participants need to: 1) indicate they are interested in NASW CEs when they sign up, 2) attend each session for the maximum number of hours. At the conclusion of the final session, participants will receive a completion certificate certifying the number of social work clock hours earned.

Alaska Department of Education and Early Development

Alaska Statute 14.30.362 requires DEED to review and approve suicide awareness and prevention training used to satisfy this statutory requirement. PC CARES learning circle series has been approved by DEED to fulfill this requirement.
